The Costa Brava is one of the most precious natural jewels in the Catalan territory. Bathed by the Mediterranean sea and touched by the Tramuntana wind, the Costa Brava has magnificent natural landscapes of beach and mountain.
This area is full of great places, such as beaches, coves, mountains, hills, where you can make different walking routes, chill on the beach, kayak around and enjoy their delicious Mediterranean gastronomy.
In this article, we are going to show you some of the many beaches of the Costa Brava that you can not miss: Cala de Sa futadera, Cala Montgó, Cala Tavallera and the cove of Aiguablava.
Cala de Sa Futadera, Tossa de Mar
Tossa de Mar is a well-known town for its beautiful beaches and its magnificent castle, El Castell de Tossa de Mar, of medieval origin and considered a National Historic and Artistic Monument.
Sa futadera is one of the most remarkable beaches in this locality, which stands out for its wild point as it is difficult to access. It is also a nudist beach.
This beach is ideal for the adventurous travelers who want to enjoy a pleasant walk before being able to submerge in its crystalline waters. We recommend bringing some water and some snacks; there are no restaurants or shops.
Cala Montgo, L’Escala
La Cala Montgó is one of the most famous beaches on the Costa Brava and certainly one of the most recognized. This beach is located between the towns of L’Escala and Torroella de Montgrí.
We recommend this beach especially for families as it is a beach of fine sand with calm waters and with all the services and facilities that you could need. On this beach, you can find restaurants, hotels, Kayak rentals, scooters and much more.
Dare and try a ‘patinete’ (sea scooter), whether you are children or adults. You will have a great time!
Cala Tavallera, Port de la Selva
Among the beaches we want to highlight is Cala Tavallera. Located in Port de la Selva, the beach is in a natural environment, almost bucolic since it looks like a virgin beach with few tourists.
It is a small beach of coarse sand and gravel. We recommend going with your partner, close friend or small groups because it is an intimate oasis, ideal for disconnecting from the world, the opposite of Cala Montgó, which has beach bars and other services.
To get to this beach, we recommend you to hike along the “Camino de Ronda,” since it is one of the most beautiful routes you can take. It’s better than going driving because you can enjoy the nature and the views.
Cala Aiguablava, Begur
In Begur, we find one of the most beautiful and paradisiacal beaches of the Costa Brava, the beautiful beach of Aiguablava.
This beach has crystalline water where you can bathe calmly, feel the golden sand and enjoy the breathtaking views from the towel: a series of magnificent cliffs full of vegetation over the sea.
All these factors make Aiguablava one of the most beautiful beaches in Catalonia. During high season it has all the services and facilities such as shops and restaurants.
We recommend arriving early as it is always jam-packed.
Visit some of those beaches and get lost in the magnificent trails and routes that the Costa Brava offers.
